This week’s show is a tribute to Trane – John Coltrane. Trane died 50 years ago this year & there’s a new documentary about the man that I saw with two friends last weekend. That screening inspired this show.
I bring you one song – my favorite song – from each one of his first 8 records plus the show opens with Coltrane playing with Johnny Hartman followed by one hit of his own composition but performed with the Miles Davis Quintet.
Enjoy!
“They Say It’s Wonderful” – with Johnny Hartman
“Trane’s Blues” – The Miles Davis Quintet
“While My Lady Sleeps”
Blue Train
Slow Dance
Russian Lullaby
“Giant Steps”
“I’ll Wait & Pray”
“My Favorite Things”
“Olé”
