This week’s show is something of a memorial to the 15th Anniversary of 9/11. But, only somewhat.
I don’t love watching the news around this time of year. I saw the footage – all of it – once. I don’t need to see it again.
But, this music sets the mood, my mood. Especially closing with Nick Drake’s entire album “Pink Moon.” It was the last bit of beauty I listened to before being jarred awake by my mother-in-law telling us to wake up & switch on the television.
The lines of the last song of this record resonate.
From The Morning – Nick Drake
A day once dawned, and it was beautiful
A day once dawned from the ground
Then the night she fell
And the air was beautiful
The night she fell all around.
So look see the days
The endless coloured ways
And go play the game that you learnt
From the morning.
And now we rise
We are everywhere
And now we rise from the ground
See she flies
And she is everywhere
See she flies all around
So look see the sights
The endless summer nights
And go play the game that you learnt
From the morning.
